Meet Elizabeth – Wonder and Wander Founder

Elizabeth has worn many hats throughout the years. Elementary school teacher (so.many.apples), photographer (bride and baby wrangler), mother of two boys (more coffee please), and proud MSU alum (GO GREEN!). It’s kind of like that children’s book Caps for Sale, but with fewer monkeys.

Several things have always been true in each season. Elizabeth is happiest when she pours her energy into a creative outlet, believes fiercely in creating memorable connections, and has a certain magical quality when it comes to kids.

As a Michigan native and Jackson resident for seven years (and counting), she often “wonders” where to take her children to “wander.” She dreamed of having access to a centralized resource to score epic ideas for their next adventure but found nothing of the sort.

Pandemics have a way of inspiring a little soul searching. So, in May of 2021, Elizabeth founded Wonder and Wander – Jackson by combining all those aforementioned superpowers into one incredible force for good. She is excited to share the hidden gems she’s already found in her explorations and knows there are plenty more, just waiting to be discovered (and photographed, of course!).

CONFESSION: Elizabeth still hasn’t watched the light show at The Cascades in Sparks Foundation County Park, but YOU can help make that happen. Share the news! Spread the word! Help her get to that illustrious milestone of 10,000 Instagram followers so she can add the oh-so-convenient Swipe Up feature to her IG stories. That means easier access to links to each destination she highlights. Everyone wins!

Elizabeth is the proud winner of the 2020 Bright Walls Scavenger Hunt, conquered with her biggest boy. It’s her favorite local event! Her favorite destinations (so far) are Big Portage Lake and the Dahlem Center. Her favorite treat is anything sweet, literally anything. Oh, and she also recently won a vacation while Zooming LIVE with Oprah (yes, that Oprah!). Ask her about it sometime. She may never tire of retelling the story.

Elizabeth hopes her Jackson County wanderings will inspire you to embrace the wonder that can be found right here in our community. If you see her out and about, please say hi!

So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and explore!
