We recently asked you, our fabulous followers, what content you were interested in, and we overwhelmingly heard that you are interested in ways to give back this holiday season. We were so happy to see the results of the polls as we believe that part of our purpose here on our little corner of the internet should be to focus on doing good in our community (and we started a brand new series this month as part of our focus on this).
In addition to our social impact series, we’ll be shining the spotlight on some local organizations to share various ways we can be of assistance this holiday season. We started by announcing our community donation drive in support of Birthbrite, and we’ll continue by sharing some inspiration and information from various organizations here on the Adventure blog.
Bekah Zraik, Jackson Interfaith Shelter’s Office Director, shared with us the following ways to get involved that are the most helpful to them right now:
- Volunteering – we are always looking for volunteers! If you want to work with kids, our best option is babysitting. If you would like to bring kids to volunteer, you absolutely can! There is part of the volunteer application that will need a parent or legal guardian to sign off. You can learn more at www.interfaithshelter.com/volunteer or email our Volunteer Coordinator with any questions –firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Donate through the Amazon wish list. Honestly, this is the best way to donate the exact items we need! We keep it updated with various items at all different price points, and everything can be shipped directly to the shelter. You can simply share this link with whoever is interested in donating. www.interfaithshelter.com/amazon
- We participate in Amazon Smile and Kroger Community Rewards (both give back a portion of your everyday sales to the shelter).
Bekah noted that she will be sharing more information about the latter on the Jackson Interfaith Shelter’s Facebook page, so head over there and click the “Follow” button to stay up to date!
