Thanks to a follower tip, Big and I headed over to check out the Northwest Elementary School Complex Playgrounds. We were happy to discover a few separate play areas tucked behind both school buildings, and found a nice, clean area to play and explore!

Location Name: Northwest Elementary School Complex
Address: 3735 Lansing Avenue, Jackson, MI 49202
Why we love it: Spacious playgrounds, ample equipment in a quiet setting
Features: Northwest Early Elementary: multiple climbers, swings, two inclusive swings, balance beam, multiple monkey bar sets, and mostly fenced in.
Northwest Elementary: climbing dome, climber with slides, two climbing walls with monkey bars, benches
“Big’s Review”: I liked that there were a bunch of things to climb on, but it’s not my favorite playground in the area.
Elizabeth’s Suggestion: Bring a chair and sit back and relax while the kiddos play!
Toddler Approved? The areas behind NW Early Elementary are more toddler-friendly, and the area is mostly fenced in.
Stroller friendly? The playground is covered with mulch, which is not super stroller-friendly.
Big Kid Approved? Yes!
Full Sun or Shade? Full sun, with some shade depending on the time of day
Restroom? No
Cost? Free
Parking? There is plenty of parking in the school parking lots
Hours: No set hours, just make sure you visit when school is not in session

Closing Review: Big got bored with the equipment rather quickly, so I think this playground is most suited to the toddler to eight age range. Add in some friends or playmates, and I’m sure he’d be entertained for hours. We loved all of the space, and you can’t be having so many different types of climbing apparatus!
