Next up on Wonder and Wander’s Summer Fun Bucket List:

Attend a Special Event!

After a long, strange year, it’s so nice to see events popping up on the social calendars again. From free events to festivals, from food trucks to classic cars, Wonder and Wander is here to help you find the perfect kid-friendly event for your crew. We’re also working hard to keep our Community Events Calendar up-to-date so that you can perfectly plan out all of your summer adventures!

Now let’s jump right in with information about two of my favorite kid-friendly events here in Jackson County:

Food Truck Tuesdays

Sponsored by the DDA and Consumers Energy (and a slew of other local partners), Food Truck Tuesdays are set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 15, July 6, July 20, Aug. 3, and Aug. 17 in Horace Blackman Park, and feature a variety of foods, desserts, and sometimes even coffee, all provided by local food trucks. If you’re like me and you have some picky palates to feed, then Food Truck Tuesdays are the perfect kid-friendly outing, because there is definitely something for everyone (and hey, if your kid is uber picky, pack up some PB&J’s, and head down anyways to get yourself a treat!). Live music will also be performed at the park, and there is plenty of seating to socially distance. Please note – there is a different lineup of food trucks for each date, so be sure to check out the event pages on Facebook to see what kind of yumminess awaits you. Make sure you bring along your preferred payment method, an empty stomach, and maybe some wet wipes in case things get a little messy

Food Truck Tuesdays take place on the dates above at Horace Blackman Park – 212 W. Michigan Avenue, Jackson, MI.

Cruise-In

On the fourth Friday of every month from May – September, you can hear the engines roar as local car enthusiasts head to Downtown Jackson to show off their beauties. This event is the perfect kid-friendly event, because first of all, it’s free! Kids of all ages will love seeing hundreds of cars parked along West Michigan Avenue (and surrounding side streets) while hearing live music grooving through the air. There are contests, giveaways, and lots of room to roam around and explore. Consider making this a dinner outing too, and stopping at one of the local downtown restaurants for a bite to eat. Or, pack a picnic, and enjoy your meal at one of the tables at Horace Blackman Park. Make sure you check out the upcoming Cruise-In dates on our Community Events Calendar.

For more information about the Cruise-In events, contact the Jackson Downtown Development Authority at 517-788-4355 or info@jacksondda.org
