We know that school playgrounds might not typically fall into the “Park” category, but the area schools have some great playground equipment, so we’re going to go ahead and include them. Big and I love heading to the playground at East Jackson Elementary School. For one, there is seriously so much equipment. From climbers to swings, this playground has it all. Next, this playground is secluded behind the school, and anytime we have visited, we have pretty much been the only people there. The lack of people coupled with the quiet, rural setting makes for a peaceful play experience! Of course, as with any school playground, make sure you visit when school is not in session.

Location Name: East Jackson Elementary School Playground
Address: 4340 Walz Rd, Jackson, MI 49201
Why we love it: Tons of playground equipment that is in excellent condition, a quiet rural setting, and there is never over-crowding!
Features: So much equipment, from climbers to spider webs to spinning pieces, it’s hard to describe it all! Tons of swings (no baby swings), a basketball court, a walking trail, a football field, and a couple of benches.
“Big’s Review”: This is the best place to play – EVER! There is so much playground equipment, and it is so fun. The spider web is the best thing to climb on.
Elizabeth’s Suggestion: There’s not a lot of shade at this playground, so visit in the early evening when temps might be a big cooler! I also love to walk the walking trail while big Plays.
Toddler Approved? There’s a lot of space for toddlers to run around, but there are no bucket swings, no toddler climbers, and much of the equipment would be too challenging for the littles.
Stroller friendly? Yes!
Big Kid Approved? 100%
Full Sun or Shade? Full sun
Restroom? No. Come to play, but be prepared to make a bathroom run!
Cost? Free
Parking? There is ample parking right by the basketball court.
Hours: No set hours, just make sure you visit when school is not in session

Closing Review: Big and I have been visiting this playground for years, and we are always impressed with the equipment and the cleanliness of the playground. He tends to forget this playground exists, but once we visit, he doesn’t want to leave! I have a feeling your kids won’t either once they conquer climbing to the top of the spider web!
